How does Telehealth work for Exercise Physiology?

Just like most other health professionals, Bodytrack’s Exercise Physiologists use Telehealth to deliver virtual sessions as an alternative to face-to-face appointments. Using Cliniko enables our Exercise Physiologists to overcome access barriers and provide a secure, high quality exercise experience. We also use Telehealth sessions to educate clients via online resources, motivate and monitor adherence, track outcomes, and report back to clients and/or other treating practitioners about a clients progress.

Why choose Telehealth?

More and more people are turning to Telehealth to access healthcare. For a long time telehealth was the choice of those in rural or remote areas, where healthcare professionals weren’t available for face-to-face appointments. A shift has since occurred with the increase of smartphones and social connectivity online and as a result many people are choosing telehealth simply because it’s easier to accommodate into their lifestyles. No need for travel time or arranging a baby sitter, no need to choose a practitioner based purely on location. You can access the highest quality healthcare services in an instant, from practitioners who are driven to deliver innovative, client-centred care.

Are all services available via Telehealth?

Bodytrack currently offers all Private Exercise Physiology and Consultation Exercise Physiology sessions via Telehealth. This includes the supervision of exercise sessions, as well as consultations for exercise advice and progression of home exercise programs. As well as improve general health and fitness, we are able to manage chronic conditions such as Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease, Arthritis and Osteoporosis with Telehealth sessions. Our Exercise Physiologists specialising in Women’s Health, Neurological conditions and Athlete Performance are also available for Telehealth appointments.

Our digital platform is perfect for group sessions too! We know the importance of social connection in our group exercise sessions, so we’ve designed our virtual group exercise sessions with exactly that in mind.

Are Telehealth services rebateable?

Clients with a valid Enhanced Primary Care Plan referral are eligible for Medicare rebates for services delivered via Telehealth, and DVA card holders are able to access private Exercise Physiology sessions via Telehealth. Find out more about Medicare referred services and eligible conditions. Currently only the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), State Inusrance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) and WorkCover QLD recognises telehealth as an alternative method of delivering therapy supports for eligible clients.

Australian Unity, Teachers Health Fund and TUH have announced telehealth items for Exercise Physiology. Some private health insurers such as Bupa, Medibank and HCF offer their own telehealth services to members, however each company is different so it’s worth asking your insurer what you’re entitled to.
